Border Protection intercept boat

ANOTHER boat carrying 195 illegal immigrants was intercepted as the first contingent of detainees from a mainland detention centre was flown to Nauru on Friday.

The boat was intercepted by Border Protection, carrying 195 passengers and three crew north-west of Christmas Island early on Friday.

Those on the boat will now be transferred to Christmas Island for immigration checks.

At 5am on Friday, a group of 31 Sri Lankan men arrived via plane on Nauru, after leaving a detention centre in Darwin.
