Kani's Noosa Box Office success

FOUR boxers from Israel Kani's Noosa Box Office had successful outings in the Sunstate Amateur Boxing League state titles in Cairns.

Benny "Bangin" Slavin, 16, boxed well and finished strong with his heavy hands and accuracy to bring home the junior 71kg Queensland title in a three two-minute round bout.

Bryce "Hurricane" Hegarty, 18, stepped up from the intermediates and entered the senior 71kg division.

He stopped his opponent with a ref's eight count in an elimination bout.

Hegarty went through to the final and claimed the sate title belt in a four two-minute round bout by unanimous decision with his fast hands and footwork.

Big Shannon Mahony, 23, stopped his opponent in an elimination bout by technical knockout.

He then backed up in the heavyweight division final to stop his opponent with his accurate power punching.

Courtney Kingston, 20, entered the 63.5kg division and came away with the silver medal in a tough skilful bout against a more experienced opponent.

All four boxers were selected to represent Queensland in the upcoming Australian titles at Mackay in November.

Also doing Noosa proud at the same time and boxing at a Bribie Island Global fight night and winning in fine form were Noosa Box Office fighters Hadley Tierney, Marcus Nelson and Jackson Thomas.
