Autopsy reveals cause of 55-year-old Mackay man's death

THE 55-year-old man who died in the early hours of Tuesday morning in what police originally described as "suspicious" circumstances, died of a pre-existing medical condition.

Police have revealed that the autopsy, carried out Thursday, showed the man died as a result of the medical condition and his death is no longer being treated as suspicious.

Police were called to the man's Milton St unit on Tuesday at 12.45am after reports of an altercation. When the officers arrived the found the man dead outside the unit.

The man's 35-year-old son-in-law had been assisting police with their investigation, along with three other witnesses.

Police confirmed no charges would be laid at this point.
