Byron classic burger bar opens in Noosa

IF YOU'VE been to Byron Bay recently, you'll be familiar with Beloporto Burger Bar.

It's a trendy, beachy burger joint and a second store has just opened at Noosaville in Thomas St with the same fun, relaxed vibe.

For those who are not familiar with the concept, the emphasis is on serving up quality at an affordable price.

Co-owners Peter Paestner and Michael and Georgea Benjamin opened the original Beloportos Burger Bar nine years ago.

Mr Paestner said their mission was to ensure "a bloody beautiful experience” and, with extensive experience in the food industry, he knows it's about finding a balance between taste, quality and price.

"We know the best food is made from fresh ingredients and put together by passionate chefs and cooks who love eating the burgers themselves,” he said.

"We are all about giving you the best taste sensation that money can buy.

"We make sure you get all you what you want in a burger - a decent size, delicious, affordable and quick.”

Mr Paestner said Beloporto always uses fresh produce from local producers.

"Our chicken is hormone and antibiotic free,” he said.

"All our sauces are made from scratch, including the aioli and our famous hot chilli sauce.”

The name is also a little different - it means "little harbour” in Portuguese.

And once you step inside, it does feel like a safe haven - reminiscent of the beachside snack bars of my childhood.

There's the freezer filled with ice-blocks to one side, a massive menu to choose from, surfing posters, a few tables and chairs... and smiling staff behind the counter.

Beloporto is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner: 9am-9.30pm.
