Calisthenics members to strut their stuff on national stage

FOR the second year in a row, Suncoast Calisthenic Club has had members of its club selected to represent Queensland at the prestigious Australian National Championships to be held in Sydney in July this year.

Three of these girls are members of the Queensland Junior State Team (Ula Weir, Chris-Lynn Appelgrijn and Lily Sleeman) and the other girls are members of the Queensland Intermediate State Team (Chelsea Humphreys, Lauren Meredith, Emma Finn, Lucy Samin, Zali Allison and Lu-Mari Appelgrijn).

Calisthenics is a combination of dance, gymnastic and balletic routines that are choreographed and set to a variety of music.

Calisthenics helps to develop co-ordination, strength, self-confidence and team spirit, all while participants have fun and learn an appreciation of various styles of music and dance.

Children from the age of four to adults are involved in this versatile "artistic sport”.

Suncoast Calisthenics was the first club of its kind in Queensland and is continually growing from strength to strength.
