CCIQ calls for end to red tape for small businesses
THE Chamber of Commerce and Industry Queensland (CCIQ) is calling on the Queensland Government not to burden small businesses with more red tape.
CCIQ director of advocacy and workplace relations Nick Behrens said the reforms would increase costs and make it harder to achieve safety outcomes.
"The State Government is seeking to introduce amendments that increase reporting requirements for small businesses with respect to workers' extended leave of absence, effectively duplicating functions as WorkCover already collects such information," he said.
"Frustratingly, the proposed amendments were previously removed by the former Minister for Industrial Relations... due to the red tape implications of having to double up on reporting."
