Chelsea manager Benitez could face chop after verbal attacks

CHELSEA beat Middlesborough 2-0 yesterday and will play Manchester United in the FA Cup quarter-finals on March 10, but the Blues could have a new manager by then.

Rafael Benitez faces the sack following his post-game verbal attacks on owner Roman Abramovich for only naming him interim manager, and the supporters for constantly abusing him.

Benitez confirmed he would leave the club at the end of the season - it may be sooner now.

Chelsea hosts West Brom tomorrow and the previous two Chelsea managers - Andre Villas-Boas and Roberto Di Matteo, were sacked after losing to the Baggies.
