POLICE officers have escaped with minor injuries after their 4WD rolled several times on the Western Downs.

Chinchilla police officer-in-charge Sergeant Gerard Brady said the two men were returning to Chinchilla from a job at Wieambilla when the crash occurred about 8.50pm yesterday.

Sgt Brady said it appeared the police vehicle was overtaking two cars on the Chinchilla Tara Rd when it somehow was involved in a collision with the lead vehicle.

The police car, an Isuzu D-Max dual cab ute, rolled several times.

Paramedics took the two policemen to Chinchilla Hospital but they have since been discharged.

"At the end of the day, any crash you can walk away from is the best outcome you can hope for," Sgt Brady said.

He said the other vehicle involved sustained relatively minor damage.

"Like any other traffic crash we need to speak to all parties involved."
