Climber may be fined after Mt Beerwah rescue

AN RACQ CareFlight helicopter winched a climber to safety after she became stuck on Mt Beerwah on Sunday.

The SES tried for four hours to reach the climber, identified by Channel Seven as Jessie Marshall, of Brisbane.

Ms Marshall, 20, who was climbing by herself, was trapped on a rock shelf more than 100m above ground.

She told Seven she was grateful for the efforts of the people who saved her.

Mt Beerwah is closed to climbers, and those who ignore the ban face hefty fines.
