CFMEU warns of more protests

THE construction workers' union has threatened to start another blockade at Grocon's Emporium site in Melbourne's CBD, if talks with the company break down.

The Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union (CFMEU) agreed to lift the blockade in Lonsdale Street last night, after hours of talks with Grocon's chief executive Daniel Grollo and the Fair Work Australia (FWA) president Iain Ross.

But the CFMEU's state secretary Bill Oliver says Grocon's claim the deal is unconditional is not true.

"There is nothing written in here that says we can't go back and have a peaceful demonstration the way we have been for the last 13 days," he said.

"There is nothing in this agreement that says should the talks break down next week, that we can't activate that peaceful campaign again.
