Coast could be in for another storm tonight

THE Sunshine Coast was treated to a spectacular but scary lightning show last night as a severe thunderstorm hit the region.

Most of the action though was in the lightning and thunder as not a huge amount of rain fell on the Coast.

Conondale recorded the greatest rainfall with 58mm falling in the last 24 hours. Meridan Plains was next in line with 26mm falling, then Mapleton was close behind recording 25mm. Nambour (22mm), Beerwah (14mm), Tanawha (12mm), Sippy Downs (9mm) and Mountain Creek (8mm) also received some rain.

Sunshine Coast Daily readers captured the best of the lightning in the gallery below.

A repeat of last night could occur again this afternoon with the Bureau of Meteorology forecasting a chance of a thunderstorm and strong winds for the Sunshine Coast.
