Coast residents share in huge lotto win

A group of 10 Noosa residents have woken up to a whole new life with the news their aptly named syndicate Aussie Gold Rush won division one in last night's Oz Lotto draw.

Along with eight Hervey Bay locals, the group held one of the two division one winning entries in Tuesday night's draw.

Each division one winning entry took home $1,251,386.05.

In addition to winning division one, the group's entry also won division three 21 times, division five 63 times, and division six 35 times, boosting their total win to $1,320,747.65.

Each member of the syndicate will take home a cool $73,374.87.

The shares into the division one winning store syndicate were purchased at The Lucky Charm newsagency in the Noosa Civic and The Lucky Charm Hervey Bay.

Noosa Lucky Charm owner Chris Muggeridge said it was always a pleasure to give people the exciting news of a big Lotto win.

"When you get to tell someone they have won a lot of money, it is a good pick me up," he said.

"After what we have all been through this year it will certainly provide a huge relief."

The Noosa store last had a big winner in 2014 when they sold the $36 million winning entry.

Mr Muggeridge said he saw a big increase in lotto sales after a big local winner was announced.

"We definitely get a good boost for about three to six months," Mr Muggeridge said.

The winning syndicate has been running for 10 years and while they had enjoyed some small wins over the years, Tuesday night's was their first big one.
