Coast set to host Beach Bash challenge
IT'S time to drag out those loud and proud Speedos, or something a little less bold, as the first Beach Bash Sunshine Coast arrives at Coolum.
Australia's only beach obstacle race will host its first event on the Coast in July with crowds expected to be in the thousands.
Considered the craziest and sandiest obstacle challenge in Australia, punters can select from a variety of courses.
The challenge course, considered the toughest, involves 17 obstacles over an 8km stretch of sand.
And if you're not a great swimmer never fear ... there's not a water event in sight.
Beach Bash will feature the world's largest inflatable water slide, affectionately named Slide
show Bob, and a service charity challenge open to police, fire and ambulance service workers.
All profits from the service challenge will go to the Daniel Morcombe Foundation.
Beach Bash founder and managing director Ray Armstrong said the event would provide great opportunities for the Coast.
"With thousands of people set to converge on Coolum this is a fantastic event for visitors, local businesses and tourism alike," Mr Armstrong said. "Having staged three previous events in Queensland and NSW we know what impact the event has and we can't wait to bring it to the Coast."
Beach Bash online registrations are open at beachbash.com.au with early-bird entry fees finishing on June 15.
Where: Coolum Beach
