MARTIAL ARTS: There are plans for another Coastal Combat event, likely to be held early next year, following the success of this month's fight night.

Contenders from Queensland and Victoria converged at the Coolum Civic Centre for a 12-bout card.

There was action aplenty at Coastal Combat 2, with local hope Joel Fahey claiming victory against Yeppoon fighter Jye Wyllie.

The Combat Lab contestant won the professional fight to the roar of a sold-out venue.

Among the other bouts as an amateur title fight and two women's clashes.

Coastal Combat is presented by a local not-for-profit incorporation, Healthy Coolum Community, which provides martial arts training to underprivileged youth in Coolum and surrounding areas.

By making this training financially accessible to those who are not ordinarily able to do so, HCCI aims to provide direction and discipline to youth in need.
