MOFFAT Beach's latest brunch destination will open its doors this Saturday serving up raw sweets, superfood salads and breakfast burgers only one street back from the beach.
Rawr Foods creator Jasmin Smith has added another feather to her creative cooking cap, with One Block Back, on Nothling St, Moffat Beach.
The Caloundra local, who started Rawr Foods a couple of years ago, has garnered a cult following for her beautiful, handmade and hand decorated guilt-free desserts that taste as good as the look.
The vegan treats are free of dairy, soy and refined sugar, and are stocked in more than 30 cafes on the Sunshine Coast and in Queensland, and will now be served in her very own cafe.
Jasmin said One Block Back would feature an all day brunch menu with a mixture of superfoods and sweets.
"We have all your normal breakfast meals, healthy options and not so healthy options,” Jasmin said.
"We'll have burgers for that bigger brunch style, and in our display fridge we have takeaway salads, bagels, our Rawr Foods cake range and then some naughty cakes too.”
The cafe will also do its own blend of coffee, and on opening day, Jasmin said they would be serving it for free from 7-9:30am.
Jasmin said the fitout in a 300 sq m shed, only one block back from the waters of Moffat Beach, was industrial with raw furnishings and a coastal vibe.
"We made all our own cement bench tops, we've got old tin on the walls, and heaps of bar tables.
"We also have an area on the deck next to a creek with a garden, it's really nice.”
There are ladders, old luggage stacked in corners and plants cascading from the roof.
She said it had been a massive effort to get the cafe ready, but it had been a dream since she opened Rawr Foods from her kitchen in Caloundra a couple of years ago.
"We're so excited, and it's really coming together,” she said.
"We can't wait to open.”
The cafe will open on Saturday, November 19 from 7am-2pm.
One Block Back will trade seven days from 7-3pm.
