Commissioning on cards as QCLNG moves towards first gas

UNDERTAKING the first LNG tank test on Curtis Island and commissioning gas turbine generators are on the cards for QGC this year.

QGC is partnering with BG Group to build the QCLNG project on Curtis Island.

In an interview with the Queensland Mining and Energy Bulletin, QGC managing director Derek Fisher said the first LNG tank hydro-test would be carried out in the first quarter.

Gas turbine generators will be commissioned in the second quarter, followed by the commissioning of Train 1.

This will lead to the first commercial cargo in the fourth quarter, and Train 2 about six months later.

Mr Fisher said one of QGC's greatest achievements had been its ongoing relationships with communities from Gladstone to the Surat Basin.
