Coolum inventor tapping into world market as funds flow in

COOLUM inventor Stuart Mason's SpaTap product has been successfully funded on Kickstarter.

The device, which fits on to a bottle of water, turning it into a portable tap or shower, attracted $6046 from 166 backers - ahead of the $5000 goal.

"We didn't get the 40k I hoped for but we did beat our target and more importantly we have been contacted by NGOs and other organisations from all over the world that want SpaTaps," Mr Mason said.

"I have one NGO here that wants to take delivery in November so they can take them to the highlands of Nepal to help combat diarrhea, and we also have a connection here to help us get them to indigenous people suffering with trachcoma, all spread by contaminated hands."

Mr Mason said he was also hoping an arrangement with the Surfrider ocean conservation organisation would help the product "go global". "We are in talks with their head office in California. I will go on these trips to take consignments and demonstrate use."
