Could courts be the latest in reality TV?

A DECADE is long enough to revisit whether television cameras should be allowed in courts, Premier Campbell Newman said.

The issue is being revisited, after new Chief Justice, Tim Carmody, said he was open to the idea.

But in a statement released on Friday, President of the Court of Appeal, Margaret McMurdo, said the idea had been investigated and discarded 10 years ago, under former chief justice and new governor, Paul de Jersey.

Justice Carmody told The Courier Mail he would still proceed with looking into the matter.

And he has the support of the Premier, who said he believed it was something most Queenslanders would want, adding that a lot had changed in the past decade since the issue was last canvassed.
