Couple allegedly fled crash scene and hijacked car

A MAN and a woman have allegedly hijacked a woman's car at Miami on the Gold Coast yesterday.

Police say they were originally called to a traffic crash around 11am where two cars had collided on Redondo Avenue.

The couple allegedly fled the scene of that incident and a patrol was unable to find them.

Around 12:30pm police then received a call saying a man and a woman had allegedly entered another woman's car and forced her to drive them to Varsity Lakes.

Police then arrested the couple at an address on Wattle Street.

No one was physically injured in the two incidents. 

A 24-year-old woman from Labrador has been charged with two counts of unlawful use of motor vehicle and one count each of deprivation of liberty, enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence, contravene direction.

A 36-year-old man from Varsity Lakes has been charged with two counts of unlawful use of motor vehicle and one count each of deprivation of liberty and enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence.

Both are scheduled to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court today.
