Cow hit by truck rebounds into oncoming car

POLICE, QAS and firefighters were called to scene of a crash involving a cow near Nebo.

It is believed that a truck was travelling on the Peak Downs Hwy at about 3.50 this morning when it hit a cow, the cow then rebounded onto an oncoming car.

Ambulance crews transported three occupants from the car to Mackay Base Hospital for precaution.

"It would have been a high speed incident and we transported them as a precaution in case they had any possible spinal injuries from the crash," a QAS spokeswoman said.

The driver of the truck refused to be transported to hospital.

It is believed that the cow died at the scene.
