Cox to sparkle for Diamonds

CATHERINE Cox was born in New Zealand - that will count for nothing in Auckland tonight.

Cox will be aiming to help the Australian Diamonds get back on level terms in the three-Test series against the Silver Ferns.

The Silver Ferns won the opening Test 54-52 in Melbourne on Sunday, a game in which Cox, a shooter, won her 99th cap.

But joining Liz Ellis and Sharelle McMahon in the 100 club is not in the thoughts of Cox - winning tonight is, even if it means Lisa Bassett starts instead of herself.

"If she (Bassett) can play as well as she did in Melbourne (she scored 15 goals from 17 attempts when she came on), then I'd start her," Cox, who was six when her family moved across the Tasman, said.
