Cricket Australia scores broadcast deal with Apple TV

CRICKET fans will now be able to watch Test matches, extra footage and historic clashes on their Apple TV after a deal was hammered out between the technology giant and Cricket Australia.

Fans will have "free and immediate access" to a dedicated channel on the new platform.

It is understood the material will be packaged by both Cricket Australia and Nine.

The videos will be high definition, in contrast to Nine's current cricket broadcasts that are published in standard definition.

Apple TV consoles sell for about $100 in Australia, in competition with Samsung, Sony and Google's own smart TV offerings.

Cricket Australia spokesman Ben Amarfio said the deal involved "bringing fans closer to the cricket".

Cricket skill tutorials will also be broadcast from legends including George Bailey, Shaun Marsh and Ellyse Perry.
