Homegrown talent wows X Factor superstar
ONCE crooning from the stage of his Chinchilla State High School hall, Dean Pritchard is now belting out tunes for home audiences in the millions.
The Meandarra local moved to Melbourne after graduating and is now working his way towards X-Factor glory.
He even recently serenaded Jennifer Lopez.
In Sunday night's episode, the 22-year-old was flown to New York to perform in front of the pop superstar.
But Pritchard said he wasn't star struck during the encounter.
"I'm not a J-Lo fan, I was pretty laid back," he said.
"I respect her a lot but she's not my style of music."
Walking the streets of the Big Apple before a one-on-one gig with Lopez was a stark contrast to musician's country roots.
"When you're standing there in Times Square, it's unreal," Pritchard said.
"I've come a long way, now shooting television in New York.
"Music finally took me overseas."
Pritchard had been on a rollercoaster since he debuted on the reality TV show several weeks ago.
"I have been getting so much support from rural areas, around the south-west Queensland region," he said.
"I've had so many emails, messages and phone calls that the whole town is behind me.
"I'll definitely be coming back at some stage to be playing a show."
In Tuesday night's episode, Dean was chosen in the final three contestants in his team to progress to the live shows.
