Digging up stories from past
AUGUST is family history month at Noosa Council libraries and there are informative sessions for those wanting to delve into their own family histories.
Noosaville Library is holding Family History Fridays on the second and fourth Friday of August.
People can bring their family history questions – big or small – and library volunteers will offer advice and suggestions to get you started or provide ideas to unravel stubborn family mysteries.
Family History Fridays are being held from 9.30-11.30am.
These are free sessions and anyone can drop in to the sessions – so no bookings are required.
Another session that focusses on family history is Caring for Your Treasures – Family History.
If you have a family heirloom, rare book, photograph or historical papers and want to know how to care for them correctly at home, this is an opportunity to meet with professional conservation staff from the Queensland Museum.
They are happy to look at your personal treasures and provide advice on how to maximise their longevity.
Caring for Your Treasures is on Monday, August 1 from 2-4pm at the Noosaville Library.
This is another free event but bookings are required.
For bookings and inquiries phone 53296555 or www.libraries.noosa.qld. gov.au.
