Do our smart phones support Daylight Savings in Queensland?
IT'S clear which side of the daylight savings debate our smart phones are on.
While Queenslanders woke up yesterday with no change at all apart from a bit of extra early morning sunlight, some smart phones had other ideas.
One Sunshine Coast Daily employee, whose location was listed as Brisbane on her smartphone, got a shock when she realised her phone had taken it upon itself to change its clock as those in southern states have to do.
When we asked our readers if they had similar issues yesterday we learnt there were plenty frustrated by the mix-up.
Madelaina White said she arrived at work an hour early and was not happy about the lost hour of sleep.
Connor Ross said his phone also woke him up early.
"I didn't realise until I was three quarters ready that I still had an hour up my sleeve ... went back to bed," he said.
Earlier this week we asked whether our readers would like to see daylight savings in Queensland.
Of almost 2000 who voted, 72% said they were in favour of bringing the clock switch here.
However, there were still plenty who wanted the clocks to stay right where they were.
One commenter referred to Queensland's trial of daylight savings as a "dismal failure."
"Typically the south-east forgets it's only a small fraction of Queensland," they said.
