Extra service gives East Bundy servo the edge

WOULD you like to sit in your car while someone fuels up for you, washes your windscreen and even checks your oil too?

It's old-fashioned service many will remember and now it's a new service at Shell Spar Express in East Bundaberg.

Manager Brendan Harding said the new service was designed to give the Scotland St servo an edge on the major supermarkets.

"We don't have supermarkets like Coles and Woolworths to prop up our sales by issuing fuel dockets," he said.

"So to get customers to come in, we thought we'd bring back driveway service.

"And it seems to be working very well," he said.

From 10am-1pm on weekdays customers are offered a full driveway service.

Mr Harding said it was great to offer old-fashioned quality customer service.

"The younger generation are not really aware of it, but the elderly generation do really appreciate what we're doing for them.

"We even take the cash and bring back the change."

He said the service was only new to the store and had seen some mixed reactions from customers.

"We are getting a lot of good comments out of it."

Mr Harding said people had been confusing the Shell Spar for a Shell Coles Express station and expecting to use fuel discounts.

"Fair enough some petrol stations offer four cents off a litre," he said. "But to offer this, it's something different and it's working very well."
