Easier access to housing information

WITH just a few clicks of the mouse, Queenslanders can now connect with the State Government to get information on their homes and housing needs.

Minister for Housing and Public Works Dr Bruce Flegg announced the launch of the Homes and Housing section of the Queensland Government website at www.qld.gov.au/housing.

Dr Flegg said the website would help Queenslanders find housing information quickly and conveniently.

"The information on the Homes and Housing website is grouped from the user's perspective making it easier for everyone to find what they're looking for," Dr Flegg said.

"The site draws information from several government departments and includes information on building, buying, owning, renting or selling a home, emergency accommodation and homelessness.

"So whether you're looking for a place to rent, need information on land title searches or want to know about electrical safety at home, you'll find it on the website."

Dr Flegg said individuals and organisations were consulted in the development of the Homes and Housing site to ensure it met the community's needs.

"More than 120 members of the public from across Queensland took part in research to identify key housing information and services of interest to them," he said.

"The Department of Housing and Public Works will now manage the site to expand content and keep information up-to-date.

"This is another positive step to more accessible, efficient and effective services for all Queenslanders."
