End-date set for Cooroy's Bruce Highway chaos

THE section of roadwork on the Bruce Highway around Cooroy will be done and dusted by about Easter, Federal Transport Minister Darren Chester has said.

Mr Chester was visiting Gympie with new Wide Bay MP Llew O'Brien when he laid out the timeline for highway upgrades currently running between the Sunshine Coast and Gympie.

The Cooroy long-running upgrade was progressing well and the reduced speed limits were expected to come off next April.

The stretch of highway between Cooroy and Gympie was expected to be all dual carriageway by mid-2018.
