Eternity thrilled for modelling finals

ETERNITY Burr is excited to be representing the Sunshine Coast region in the state final of Miss Teen Australia in Mackay next month.

The 14-year-old James Nash State High School student, who is an avid volunteer and has donated her time to relay for life, several school projects and the Cats AFL team, says she is thrilled to be selected.

"I see it as a really good opportunity to be a good role model for other teens," Eternity said.

The willowy teen said her nan and her friend thought she should look at becoming a model, and Eternity says she saw the competition as a way to boost her profile and get her foot in the door.

Her platform of animal welfare is a subject that is close to her heart and something that reinforced her desire to become a vegetarian.

"Animals can't speak for themselves," she said. "I'd like to be their voice."

She entered the competition in January of this year, and was the first Queenslander to enter, a process that involved her submitting a portfolio of photos and getting character references from authority figures such as her school principal.

Although this is Eternity's first pageant, she is keen to embrace all the experience will offer.

The final will be judged over five categories, starting with a personal interview. Next, contestants will be judged on their presentation on stage, then there is an Active Wear and Formal Wear section.

There is also a people's choice award, the winner of which will have a wild card entry into the Miss Teen Australia Finals.

Competition in the Queensland Junior Teens category is fierce, with 21 contestants vying for the crown, more than the other five participating states and territories combined.

Eternity is confident her volunteer involvement both with the school and within the community will also go a long way to enduring her to the judges and the public.

The first step of her dream is winning the Queensland crown so she can represent the state at the Miss Teen Australia finals in Sydney.

If you would like to help Eternity on her journey by voting for her, the lines will open in early October, so pop online and follow all the directions at http://www.missteenaustralia.com.au, once the lines are open.
