Eudlo residents fear road will claim a life

EUDLO residents are calling for McGilchrist Rd to be completely sealed after yet another car crash this week.

Darren and Samantha Allen, who live on the corner of McGilchrist Rd and Slaughter Yard Rd, have counted three crashes in the past six months.

Mr Allen said it was a miracle that someone was not killed when a four-wheel-drive with a mother and her two children on board went out of control and rolled in the latest crash, on Thursday.

The Allens and other residents have been campaigning to get the road, which is subject to potholes in the wet and dust in the dry, completely sealed.

"It's only a matter of time before there's a fatal," Mr Allen said.

McGilchrist Rd was identified as a priority in the Sunshine Coast Council's Unsealed Roads Upgrade Plan 2015-2035.

Division Five councillor Jenny McKay said the road was due to be sealed at a cost of $2.5 million over two budget periods in 2016-17 and 2017-18. She said: "The biggest investment we've got over the next five years are the roads into Eudlo."
