Is our mayor fair game?

EVERY town in Queensland would like to have a mayor as dedicated and proactive as Paul Pisasale.

His passion for Ipswich has never been questioned.

But what has been questioned of late are donations made to community funds that are linked to the mayor. Concerns about their probity have now prompted major news organisations to launch an investigation.

The mayor opened his books to the QT yesterday labelling the reports as false and without any substance. It's understood that amongst the news teams circling the mayor is the ABC's powerful Four Corners team.

While Cr Pisasale has made many friends during his years as the leader of Ipswich, his "take no prisoners" style has also alienated him with some.

No doubt some in that group will use this opportunity to fire off harmful accusations.

If truth is on his side, the mayor has nothing to worry about. We are also investigating, but the mayor can rest easy to know that our reports will be based purely on fact, while rumours and innuendo will be rightly ignored.
