Ex-cop faces court over rego charges

A FORMER NSW police officer has been fined $500 in Maroochydore Magistrates Court after being caught driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle with cancelled number plates.

Mark Brian Kitchener, 53, of Minyama, did not realise his registration was out of date when he was stopped for a random breath test on the David Low Way, Marcoola, on March 28.

Mr Kitchener, who pleaded guilty to three charges, said he may have overlooked the registration while grieving the loss of three relatives.
