Familiar faces set to return to council

DESPITE a number of Sunshine Coast councillors feeling the pressure during the compressed 2016 local government election campaign all look set to be returned in what is a vote of confidence in the Jamieson-led council.

Christian Dickson (73.35%) in Division Six and Tim Dwyer (71.42%) have recorded the biggest winning margins of the nine councillors who sought re-election.

They have been followed by Rick Baberowski (65.03%) in Division One and Jason O'Pray (64.8%) in Division Eight, who also recorded impressive margins.

Jenny McKay (59.43%) in Division Five, Greg Rogerson (56.4%) in Division 10 and Ted Hungerford (50.37%) in Division Seven also have secured victory with more than 50 per cent of the primary vote.

Steve Robinson (51.04%) is also expected to return for another term with 50.71% of the vote counted.

In Division Three Peter Cox (40.43%) will only be beaten by a strong flow of preferences to Steve Barclay (21.7%) from Andrew Champion (21.05) and The Greens Fiona Anderson (14.34%).

In Division Four, where former Deputy Mayor Chris Thompson stepped down after 12 years in the job, John Connolly (28.34%) is expected to win, benefiting from a preference flow from Geoff Peters (21.52%).

Division One (55.85%); Division Two (47.15%), Division Three (52.72); Division Four (52.24%), Division Five (67.97%), Division Six (Christian Dickson (51.45%), Division Seven (51.93%), Division Eight (46.36%), Division Nine (50.71%), Division 10 (73.73%).
