Family who lost home in fire were just getting back on track

A YOUNG family who had struggled in the past, but were just starting to build a home together have lost everything.

That's how a relative described the couple who lost everything when fire ripped through their Murray St house yesterday morning.

The relative, who The Morning Bulletin chose not to name for privacy reasons, said the couple had started to get back on their feet after some challenging times, even setting up their own little vegie patch in the garden.

Yesterday afternoon, the front yard of the house was scattered with charred remains of toys.

The relative had returned to try to care for the family's dog, which was refusing to leave the yard.

She said she hoped the community could rally to help the family recover.

"I really hope everyone gets behind them and helps," she said.

"They don't have much, but they're good people."
