Family’s off around Australia in a bus
THE only things Kuluin parents Paul and Jenny Graham want to remain after today's garage sale are the bare essentials that will fit in a bus that will serve as the family-of-six's home for the indefinite future.
The Grahams are packing up and leaving for a life on the road, home-schooling their four daughters while travelling the country in Solar Express, the bus converted into a family home on wheels.
"It's actually kind of liberating," Mrs Graham said of the everything-must-go sale.
"I'm looking forward to the kids having a bit more time for everything - themselves, nature and everything Australia has to offer."
The journey is the second step in a voyage that was supposed to begin in 1998 when Mr and Mrs Graham arrived on the Sunshine Coast from Tasmania.
Like many would-be travellers supposedly passing through the Coast they settled down, started a family and the idea of moving became a distant memory.
After the family's business closed in 2013 the couple decided to reboot their travel plans, now with Emma, 10, Sophie, seven, Chloe, four, and Molly, one.
The children will be home-schooled throughout the journey and Paul, a qualified truck driver, will handle most of the duties behind the wheel.
The garage sale - which will feature everything from power tools to children's toys - will take place at 23 Tallow Wood Dr today from 7am-1pm.
