COOLUM local and Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort general manager Peter Hopgood will be crunching numbers of a different kind this Sunday, November 27.

As organiser of the Fiji Chemicals Sigatoka District Hospital Charity Golf Day, Peter is hosting golfers from around the world and aiming to hit a fundraising target this year of more than $50,000.

Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association's Coral Coast Chapter, of which he is chairman, has been able to fund the building of a new maternity ward, upgrades to the Outpatients Ward and build a new medivac helipad facility at the Sigatoka District Hospital from monies raised at the annual charity golf day.

The hospital services 80,000 residents and tourists in Sigatoka and from surrounding areas.

Golfers playing in this year's two-ball ambrose event have a chance of winning a 2016 model KIA Sorrento valued at $115,000.

All they have to do is sink a hole in one on the 162m 13th hole at Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course.

This year's tournament has attracted a full field of golfers who will also be vying for prizes valued at over $140,000 such as shopping vouchers from Tappoo and Jacks of Fiji, as well as individual hole prizes consisting of five-night holidays staying at Outrigger Resorts' beachfront properties in Mauritius, The Maldives, Koh Samui and Laguna Phuket in Thailand and at Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort.

Peter, who returns to his Coolum home for holidays, said the tournament was a great way to raise money for the local hospital and was fun to boot.

"Every hole will have catering and we will also be conducting a monster 200 Club raffle. It's a perfect day for mates to come together for a round golf," he said.

"Among our many supporters we would like to thank Fiji Airways for providing two return flights to Hawaii which we have combined with five nights' holiday at the Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort as our major prize in the 200 Club raffle."
