Firefighters water bomb hinterland blaze

BREAKING: Firefighters are battling a blaze burning in bush land in the Sunshine Coast hinterland as helicopters drop water bombs.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services crews are joining multiple Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service and HQ Plantations fire crews fighting the fire between Kenilworth and Imbil.

Back burning operations are being carried out around the fire and fire breaks are being constructed. A helicopter is water bombing in the area.

The blaze broke out on Monday in the Black Hut Rd & Borumba Fmt area and is not posing a threat to property at this stage, but QFES is warning smoke may affect hinterland and coastal suburbs across the Sunshine Coast.

Residents are advised to close windows and doors and keep medications close by if suffering from a respiratory condition. Motorists should drive with caution and to conditions. If residents feel their property is under threat they should contact 000 immediately.
