A MAN accused of holding up the Flinders View Seven-11 store in February, while wielding a chainsaw, and with a flowerpot over his head will remain behind bars for the time being.

Steven Frank Steele, 19, appeared in the Ipswich Magistrates Court from custody yesterday.

He is facing a range of charges including robbery with actual violence, burglary, common assault, public nuisance, unlawful possession of suspected stolen property, two counts of going armed as to cause fear, and four counts of wilful damage.

It is alleged he entered the store around 4.30am armed with the chainsaw. Police allege he made demands for cash but fled with just a bottle of soft drink.

Defence lawyer Tim Clements said footage from the store's CCTV made up the bulk of the evidence against his client.

The matter was adjourned to the committal call over on April 9 in the Ipswich Magistrates Court.
