WE SAY: Future’s bright for innovation

THE thing about the Coast is the number of people, personalities and expertise hiding in the hills or flying below the radar at the beach.

We have an underground pool of talent.

Not too many of us know or talk about it, because the language is like a new dialect and it includes words like: innovation, collaboration, start-ups and, of course, change.

There are a variety of layers to these quiet achievers. Some have money, others are - without fanfare - growing globally recognised businesses, others are their bright spark offspring, and some are behind the scenes, working together to see how we can combine our collective intelligence for the betterment of our Coast economy.

The Coast lifestyle remains our biggest asset and technology means it is easier than ever for people to work from anywhere in the world. It's a perfect storm that could ignite the potential of the Coast to broaden its economic base.

In coming weeks in the Daily you'll read about some big picture thinking and creative plans.

We hope to get behind these bold ambitions and explain to you why it's important for the whole community to put its best foot forward and try to understand and explore the potential opportunities.

We may not fully understand the lingo, but there are few of us who wouldn't see how technology is changing the way we do business and live our lives faster than ever before.

So it's up to us to keep up to speed.
