SURF LIFESAVING: Hundreds of eager youngsters converged on Maroochy Beach on Saturday for the Amart Sports Junior under-11-under-15 carnival.

The action was fast and furious as competitors took on the surf and each other in a variety of disciplines.

There were 41 events, including the marquee ironman and ironwoman races, relays and surf, and board competitions.

Among the winners was local prospect Joseph McMenaninan.

The Swans young gun took out an under-14 boys ironman race.

The carnival is among the biggest on the local surf sports calendar.
