Get charitable on Pancake Tuesday

SHINGLE Inn Sunshine Plaza and Caloundra will donate proceeds from all pancakes sold today, Tuesday, February 28, for "Pancake Tuesday” to Carrie's Beanies 4 Brain Cancer.

The cafe chain recently introduced pancakes to the menu, with a choice of traditional, Canadian bacon, or banana and berry pancakes.

Store locations were asked to nominate which charity they wanted to raise money for. Carrie's Beanies 4 Brain Cancer was the resounding choice for the franchisees and the caretakers of the Shingle Inn brand: the Bellchambers family.

TV personality Carrie Bickmore formed the charity in 2015 in honour of her late husband Greg who died following a 10-year battle with brain cancer.

The charity aims to raise $1 million towards research into brain cancer.

Bickmore hopes the charity "will stop other families having to watch their loved one pass away from this insidious disease”.
