I MIGHT be the last person on the Sunshine Coast to put up the Christmas tree and I'll be grumbling as I do it late on Christmas Eve but there's one thing I absolutely love about this time of year.
I'm not a Christmas tragic and I can't stand the never-ending carols but the generosity of spirit that emerges at this time of the year is what makes me love Christmas.
And that's why the Adopt-A-Family campaign that APN co-ordinates with charities and other support services across 12 major regional areas is a cause I love to support.
Every child deserves at least one moment of joy on Christmas Day.
Every year I donate generously to this appeal because I love the feeling I have on Christmas morning knowing I have helped bring a moment of joy to a child who didn't know if Santa was going to find them or not.
We all spend up big in an attempt to capture the "magic" of Christmas for our families but the reality is that many other families, and therefore kids, have little hope of having a memorable day.
How does it work? Various charities and other services work with APN to provide an anonymous list of families up for "adoption".
Then individuals, workplaces and families choose a family they want to provide a hamper of food and gifts for.
The gift of giving is a beautiful thing and I promise you that hamper you put together will be one of the most appreciated gifts you will give this year.
