Green ready to plan for future
OUTGOING Sunshine Coast councillor Russell Green said he had received tremendous support from community groups and residents during his years in office and in 2008 garnered close to 60% of the vote in a "three-horse race".
He was returned unopposed at the last election.
Cr Green said he would continue to defend events that "bring in millions of dollars to a holiday and event destination".
Among his proudest achievements is the Girraween master plan.
"In that master plan we dedicated a tremendous amount of land to the environment and the national park," Cr Green said.
"We had the Eenie Creek connection built which is an incredible ring road through Noosa."
Cr Green said he had worked hard to improve tourism opportunities in Noosa and on the coast and was part of the Main Beach working group that developed a long-term solution to the beach loss.
Cr Green said he would be looking for employment when his days with council come to an end.
"I'm like everyone else, I've got a mortgage, I've got bills to pay and all that sort of stuff," he said.
He said he may seek opportunities where he can utilise his planning knowledge or may return to his lifesaving and aquatic industry roots.
"It may be that I get a coffee van and start making short blacks. I don't know," he said.
