Greens officially fired up for state election

THE Queensland Greens have formally kicked off their campaign for the upcoming state election with nominations now open across all seats.

Greens state convenor Andrew Bartlett said today the government's intention to remove limits on donations from big business and developers and making it harder for smaller parties to access public funding will undoubtedly create an extra hurdle for the Greens and others.

"The Greens are not going to let the State Government's attempts to tilt the electoral laws in their favour hinder us from providing a strong credible alternative to the LNP and Labor at the next election," he said.

"Labor, the LNP and the Palmer United parties all want to allow unlimited expansion of coal and coal seam gas extraction, regardless of the harm done to our farmers, our tourism industry, our reef and our water quality.

"The Greens stand strongly for a different vision which vales all aspects of our economy and protects our environment for future generations and future jobs."
