Guns, drugs, cash seized in raid on Nambour home

AUSTRALIAN Border Force investigators have seized guns, weapons, drugs and cash in a raid on a Nambour home.

A spokesman said Queensland police as well as drug and currency detector dogs, assisted ABF investigators in Tuesday's raid.

He said it came as a result of an intercept of international mail, from which extendible batons and tasers were seized.

Officers allegedly seized two handguns, shotgun cartridges, 9mm ammunition, pepper spray, two flick knives, about 4.5kg of marijuana, a bottle of marijuana vaporiser and $3000 cash concealed in empty beverage cans.

Australian Border Force immigration and customs enforcement officer Commander Anthony Seebach said the detection and investigation of illicit firearms and other prohibited weapons importations was an operational priority for the organisation.

"The ABF reduces the risk of illicit firearm and weapon importations by treating the Australian border as a continuum seeking to detect and disrupt the importation of these dangerous goods by working before, at, and after the border,” Commander Seebach said.

"One illicit firearm or weapon in our community is one too many.

"The movement of such items is a serious national problem.

"Targeted operations such as this, which will continue, help ensure the safety and security of our community.”

As a result of the warrant activity border force investigators will review the evidence in consideration of pursuing charges under the Customs Act 1901 regarding the importation of prohibited goods.

"Anyone with information in relation to the importation or movement of illicit firearms or prohibited weapons is urged to contact Border Watch on 1800 009 623.”
