HIS future may be uncertain, but one thing is for sure - Lewis Hamilton loves racing in Singapore.

The 27-year-old Brit has won the Singapore GP twice in the past three years.

He has a driving ambition to continue his love affair with the floodlit, 23-turn Marina Bay Street Circuit this weekend to close the gap on Ferrari's Fernando Alonso in the driver's championship.

The McLaren driver, the 2008 world champion, is second in the overall standings, 37 points behind the Spaniard.

A win this season is worth 25 points and Hamilton can close in quickly with a second straight victory following his triumph in the Italian GP at Monza two weeks ago.

He knows it will not be easy - Ferrari's ability to pick up points in the other races has helped Alonso forge ahead.

"The least I can hope for from this week is just to remain in the fight. We have a good car so I hope that the performance we had in the last race is reflected here," Hamilton, who remained tight-lipped about whether he was leaving his team to go to Mercedes, said.
