Heal hopes to rule with the Kings
SYDNEY Kings coach Shane Heal is no stranger to the courts at Clive Berghofer Recreation Centre.
He has already tasted success in Toowoomba this year as coach of the Ipswich Force in the QBL.
And Heal was hopeful the city would again prove a lucky charm when his Kings take on the Townsville Crocodiles tonight.
Heal is in his first year in charge of the Kings and said every pre-season game was important for the new-look club.
"We've had a big changeover of players ... so every game's crucial for us," he said.
"We're up against it because we're playing against more established teams that have had a bit of continuity from last year.
"It's a big one for us against Townsville. Their point guard is 6'5" and ours is 5'9" so it'll be an interesting battle for the fans."
Heal said the Kings had been working hard and were fit and ready to go against the Crocs.
"I'm really happy with the attitudes of the players that we've got and we're looking forward to a big year," he said.
"This is the start of a new era and very early days but we're confident that we can do well."
