Independent schools want details

THE independent schools sector in Queensland is waiting for details from Canberra on how the Prime Minister would implement the Gonski recommendations on school funding.

Independent Schools Queensland executive director David Robertson said an address from PM Julia Gillard did promise independent schools would be better off, but did not explain how.

"There was not any detail as to how this would be achieved within the context of the Gonski recommendations which, for example, show that 20 independent schools in Queensland would be worse off based on 2010 data," he said.

"It would be good news for Queensland's independent schools if every school were to receive increased funding; this commitment goes further than the previous commitment given by the Government that no school would be worse off as a result of the Gonski review."
