Injury sees Falcons stalwart out for three months

RUGBY LEAGUE: Sunshine Coast Falcons stalwart Callum Klein is expected to miss up to three months with a serious ankle injury.

The three-quarter is set to undergo an operation this week after suffering syndesmosis damage. Klein had only just returned to the state league side line-up recently after recovering from a hamstring injury.

"The poor fellow. Hopefully it (ankle) can heal a bit quicker than they (doctors) expect," club CEO Chris Flannery said.

But the Falcons will welcome back damaging Storm winger Suli Vunivalu for its round 12 Intrust Super Cup clash with Redcliffe at Sunshine Coast Stadium on Saturday (3.30pm). He has been out of action for the past six weeks with a sprained medial ligament. The Falcons are 12th among 14 teams after breaking a four-game losing streak against CQ last weekend.

"That was a pretty tough period for a while there, but hopefully we're back on track now," Flannery said.

The Dolphins are 10th after a last-start loss.
