It’s a premiere not to be sneezed at

LAKE Macdonald residents Jenny Walsh and Lesley Hammond will screen their new film Sneezing Baby Panda - The Movie at the Big Picture Film Festival in Sydney this weekend.

The wildlife filmmakers also have scored a deal that will have the film released around the world.

The film is a mockumentary telling the story of a young biologist who, desperate to save her struggling zoo from closure, embarks on a quest to find the most famous panda on the planet, the internet sensation, the Sneezing Baby Panda.

It's based on the viral YouTube hit of the same name.

In the past seven years it has had more than half a billion views.

"It pretty much spoofs everything - wildlife films, particularly the old-fashioned 'voice of God'-style

nature programs, quest films plus the notion that captive animals can be returned to the wild. In most cases it just doesn't happen," Ms Walsh said.

Ms Hammond said the film had an underlying message.

"Throughout the film Sneezing Baby Panda's nemesis is a panda called Thug Tao, he's an ogre," she said.

"But in the end Chi Chi (the Sneezing Baby Panda) realises he needs to stand up for himself and seek help.

"Subliminally, we didn't want to preach, but the message is there."
